Diamonds Blinds started out over 40 years ago as a blind repair business. As demand for custom-made blinds grew, it expanded into selling blinds to the public, and today this family-owned business on Highett Road, Highett, supplies homes, rental properties, apartment developments and government projects.
Three generations of customers
The business says it has provided blinds for three generations of families, and that the greater share of its sales comes from word of mouth. "What better reference than being recommended by a friend or family member?" it asks. One customer wrote that they have dealt with the business "for well over 30 years", describing it as "a very well established family run business operating in Highett Road, Highett".
Blinds, shutters and curtains
Diamonds Blinds specialises in the manufacture and installation of all kinds of blinds, awnings and curtains. The range includes Holland, Roman, Venetian and vertical blinds, plantation shutters, curtains, and canvas and mesh outdoor awnings. Visitors can go through materials and options in the showroom, and the same person who measures your windows will install your blinds. Diamonds Blinds also repairs blinds, carrying parts and knowing the inner workings of what it sells, and works with hundreds of rental agencies on repairs and new fittings.
Customers' reviews on the website mention staff by name. One describes "amazing old fashion service", with Adele going through the materials and options in the showroom before Dillon came out to measure up; another credits Donna with helping coordinate fabric and colours.
Seen on screen
Beyond homes, the business does extensive work for real estate agents, schools, councils and property owners. Over the years it has also supplied blinds for Australian film companies, and its blinds can be seen in a number of television series.
