The people behind Drip say they fell in love with Melbourne's coffee culture and with the way a good cafe brings people together. They wanted a place where great coffee, quality food and genuine hospitality go hand in hand, and they opened on Chesterville Road because, in their words, Cheltenham is their community.
What gets them out of bed, they say, is not just the coffee. It is the familiar faces and the chance to make someone's day a little better. Regulars come back week after week, and that is what makes Drip feel like a community.
Brunch all day
The kitchen serves healthy plates and cafe classics, cooked to order and available all day, with dietary options right across the menu. Generous, fresh plates are the aim, whether you sit in for the morning or grab something on the way past. Dishes take in eggs done your way, fritters and brunch bowls, and the drinks list goes well beyond coffee.
Coffee made the same way every time
Coffee is taken seriously. Drip serves single-origin and batch brew, and the team describes its coffee as measured and timed, made the same way every time, so your favourite order tastes just as good on Tuesday as it does on Saturday.
Dogs welcome
Dogs are part of the family at Drip. Out the back there is a covered courtyard where four-legged friends are always welcome, which makes the cafe an easy stop on the morning walk.
Dinner Night and functions
Every few weeks, the brunch kitchen closes and reopens for one evening as somewhere else entirely, with one set menu and one room. Locals can join the Dinner Night email list to hear where the kitchen is heading next. Drip can also be booked out for functions, or the Drip kitchen can come to your event.
