Everyone has a niggle: a tight neck after a week at a desk, a sore shoulder after the weekend's gardening. Knots + Niggles Therapy, at Shop 4, 407 Highett Road, is a myotherapy and remedial massage clinic created "to keep you pain free, injury-free, and functioning at your best".
A clinic with a simple mission
The clinic says it was established for one reason: to give you the highest quality health treatments every time you visit. Its mission is simple: "to help people in pain move better and feel better". The team places a strong focus on testing, whether orthopaedic, functional or muscular, so that it can home in on the exact area of concern and tailor treatment to it.

Treatment is tailored to your needs to help restore and maintain functional movement, from relieving pain and managing acute injuries to more complex issues that need long-term management.
What is myotherapy?
According to the clinic, its myotherapists take a whole-of-care approach to assess, treat and manage injuries, pain and dysfunction. They are known for being very hands-on, with soft tissue skills among their greatest strengths, and use clinical reasoning, manual therapy, problem solving and planning to design programs specific to each person. Treatment may include dry needling, exercise and rehabilitation planning, massage therapy and joint mobilisation.

What people see a myotherapist for
The website lists conditions its myotherapists commonly work with, including back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headache and migraine management, sports injuries, rotator cuff problems, tennis elbow, occupational injuries, Achilles tendinopathy and other ankle injuries, plantar fasciitis, TMJ pain and chronic pain presentations such as fibromyalgia.
The team
The clinic's team is led by owner and myotherapist Sandra, working with a further myotherapist, remedial massage therapists and a receptionist. A client testimonial on the home page, from Kate, says: "I love this place. Everyone who works here is incredible."

Easy to reach
The clinic is near Spring Street, with plenty of one- to two-hour parking right outside. If you are travelling by public transport, Highett station and the main Highett bus stop are a short, direct 15-minute walk heading west, and the 828 bus stops outside the clinic.
Good to know
The clinic is run by its practitioners, so there is no receptionist on duty during treatments. If the door is locked when you arrive, the clinic asks you to wait outside or in your car. Please arrive at least five minutes early, fill in an injury and treatment form as a new client, and note that only card payments are accepted. A minimum of 24 hours' notice is needed to cancel or reschedule.

Who it suits
The clinic suits desk workers with stiff necks and shoulders, weekend athletes with niggles, and anyone dealing with ongoing muscular pain who would like a hands-on, well-tested approach, or simply wants to treat themselves to a massage.
