In an age of mass-produced everything, Handworks Nouveau Paperie on Chapel Street, Prahran, is a refreshing place to browse. For more than 30 years this family-run, Australian-owned business has been part of Melbourne's story, bringing beautiful, high-quality stationery, gifts and lifestyle essentials to its customers.
Handpicked with care
Handworks says everything in its stores has been handpicked with care. There's no mass-produced, forgettable stuff, just pieces made to last, designed to be loved and chosen with thought. Its shops in Prahran and Brighton are, in its words, more than just places to shop: they are spaces filled with inspiration, where every shelf holds something special.
That might be a beautifully bound notebook, a heartfelt greeting card, a unique homeware piece or the perfect present for someone you love. Handworks is also well known for its range of Jellycat soft toys, and the current selection includes clever little gadgets and grooming gifts for men, luxurious bath and beauty gift sets and stylish drinkware.
Shopping that feels personal
The business is built on a love of quality, creativity and thoughtful gifting. Handworks believes shopping should feel personal and joyful, and that every purchase should bring a little spark of happiness. Whether you've been visiting for years or are discovering the shop for the first time, the team says, "welcome. We can't wait to help you find something special."
With Christmas just around the corner, that makes Handworks a handy first stop for stocking fillers, cards and gifts for everyone on the list, including a treat for yourself.
