Rouge Jewellers, Cheltenham: Grandmother’s Diamonds Reset at a Working Bench on Station Road

"A jeweller in the old sense - where pieces are chosen, cared for, and made to last." That is how Rouge Jewellers describes itself. At 6 Station Road, Cheltenham, new, antique and vintage jewellery in precious metals and gemstones is bought, sold, repaired, restored and custom made by hand in the shop's own workshop.

Made at the bench

Rouge deals exclusively in precious metals and genuine gemstones. Every antique piece is researched and restored, and every new commission is drawn, modelled and finished at the bench in the shop. "Nothing leaves us that we would not be proud to wear ourselves," the jewellers say. They work with hand tools, "a steady eye and a jeweller's patience".

Repairs, restoration and remodelling

Bring in the pieces you already own for re-tipping, re-sizing, re-stringing, full restoration or remodelling. Rouge also offers appraisals in the shop, formal written valuations through a specialist, and licensed buying of jewellery, collections, scrap gold, silver and gemstones, either for cash or as value towards a repair, make or remodel.

Your stones, a new story

Bespoke work ranges from a single redesign to a wedding suite, starting with hand sketches and moving to wax or CAD models where needed, using your own stones if you wish. The portfolio includes a pendant made from a ring a client inherited from her late mother, and a chain made from recycled gold from the client's own jewellery. "They reset my grandmother's diamonds into something I will actually wear," one client said. "It feels entirely mine, and entirely her."

Drop in

Rouge Jewellers is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm, with other times by appointment. No appointment is needed to visit, though a quick call ahead is welcome if you want time with the jeweller for a commission or valuation. Every piece on the website can be viewed in the shop.
