Furniture is easier to choose when you can sit on it. That is the idea behind the Melbourne showroom at Modern Furniture, a 750 sqm space at 278 Bay Road, Cheltenham, where visitors can see the business's range in person. The company describes it as a "brand new stunning" showroom.
A family-owned business
According to its website, Modern Furniture is an Australian-owned, family-owned business that manufactures, imports and supplies designer-style furniture for homes and commercial offices nationwide. It says it designs and manufactures its own designer furniture and delivers nationwide, with exclusive ranges sourced globally, a focus on quality materials, meticulous designs and expert craftsmanship, and the aim of delivering beautiful products at an affordable price.
Two styles, one showroom
The store celebrates two main styles of furniture design. Mid-century modern is characterised by clean lines, simple forms and natural materials, while contemporary design is more often defined by bold colours, patterns, artwork and cutting-edge materials. The website's own guide suggests the right style depends on your personal taste and the overall aesthetic you are going for, whether a cosy home or a professional office.
The range
The website lists a wide range, from contemporary dining tables and chairs to living room furniture, sofas, coffee tables, office furniture and lounge chairs, along with accessories such as lamps, rugs and cushions to complete the look. Its photography shows timber dining tables with cane-backed chairs, boucle armchairs, herringbone-patterned sideboards and a bold dining setting against a mustard wall.
Online and in person
The business sells both online and in-store, and says its aim is to be a one-stop shop for all your furniture needs. If you would prefer to see a piece first, the showroom is open for visits, and you can also call or email the sales team with questions.
Who it suits
Modern Furniture suits households furnishing a new home or refreshing a single room, office fit-outs looking for designer-style pieces, and anyone who likes to compare materials and finishes in person before buying.
