On the corner at 176 Weatherall Road, Cheltenham, is a shop that believes everyone deserves a bit of greenery in their life. JoJo's Greens is a one-stop shop for indoor plants and pots, with a unique collection of giftware, and it aims to offer the healthiest indoor plants at affordable prices. Behind the leafy displays is a lovely family story.

It started with microgreens
Owner Jo tells the story herself on the shop's website. Her husband Geoff started JoJo's Greens back in 2017, when he was between jobs and wanted to try something different. He was fascinated by microgreens, the little edible seedlings of herbs and vegetables, and after a lot of research he set up a small growing area at the family's home in Highett. It was not long before he was selling his pots of greens at farmers markets, then supplying local restaurants, and soon the family had a little shop on Highett Road growing and selling microgreens by the bucket load.
Then came 2020. With restaurants and cafes shut during COVID, microgreen production had to slow to a stop. That year Jo had what she calls her lightbulb moment: convert the shop into a pot and plant shop, using the existing racks and grow lights to house small plants and pots instead of trays of seedlings.
A dream come full circle
For Jo, the change fulfilled a long-held dream. As a young woman she wanted to own a giftware shop, and she sold homemade art at markets and imported giftware in her twenties before spending nearly 18 years in office jobs and then time at home with her two children. Now, she says, her dream of being a shop owner has come full circle. After a year in Highett, the business moved in 2021 to its current home, a huge corner shop with a front showroom and rooms behind it.

Plants, pots and gifts
Inside, there is a wide variety of popular indoor plants and an amazing selection of unique pots and planters, with new pieces arriving each week. Jo has built her plant knowledge through trial and error and lots of research, and she is happy to pass it on to customers. The shop also stocks plant care products, candles and a growing homewares range, and it has easy gift ideas for anyone who would love a bit of greenery.
Microgreens, still grown in Cheltenham
Microgreens remain part of JoJo's Greens. The business has a large grow room on site, and it says its microgreens are grown and processed organically in Cheltenham. Varieties include broccoli, sorrel, lemon balm, radish, kale, mustards and chives, along with sunflower, pea and micro salad mixes, exotics and custom orders. Cafes, restaurants and fruiterers can contact the business for a free sample.
