At 1/22 Advantage Road, Highett, Mind My Lead is a social dog daycare with a simple idea: dogs do best when they are busy, balanced and understood. The business describes itself as "calm, structured, confidence-building daycare where dogs learn, socialise and truly thrive", and promises more than dog-sitting and more than chaos at the park.

Meet Kiara
Mind My Lead is led by Kiara, a Bayside local who, in her own words, grew up with dogs and never grew out of it. She holds a Certificate III in Veterinary Nursing and the National Dog Trainers Federation Behaviour & Training qualification, and has worked with all kinds of dogs, from gentle butterflies to the "I'm-still-learning-my-manners" pups. The centre describes itself as family-supported and behaviour-driven, and its carers are trained in behaviour-focused handling.
Play, enrichment and rest
The daycare's philosophy rests on three things: purposeful social play, enrichment that uses a dog's brain, and rest that resets their behaviour. Dogs are matched with playmates by personality and energy, and carers guide the introductions. The purpose-built indoor centre has large indoor play zones, secure areas, enrichment equipment and an outdoor synthetic-turf yard, and the website mentions a splash pool and plenty of sunbathing and sniffing time too. The aim, as the team puts it, is to build manners, confidence and calmness, so that "your future polite café dog starts here".

Door-to-door with the pet taxi
For busy households, Mind My Lead offers a Pet Taxi: a branded van with secure, industry-standard barriers and behaviour-trained handlers, collecting and returning dogs across the Bayside area. Owners who prefer to do the trip themselves can drop off between 7.30am and 9am and pick up between 4pm and 6pm. The website says the service suits families juggling busy schedules, people recovering from surgery, or anyone who wants more for their dog than waiting at home alone.
Safety first
Mind My Lead says it is fully licensed by Bayside Council and compliant with the Victorian Code of Practice. New dogs complete a behavioural assessment before booking their first daycare session, puppies are welcome from 14 weeks once fully vaccinated, and dogs need to be up to date with their vaccinations. Carers supervise closely and sometimes separate groups to keep every dog comfortable. Holiday and overnight care is also available for dogs who are suitable for daycare, after they have visited once or twice.
