The roll menu covers the classics locals grew up on, from cheese and salad, ham and salad or egg and salad, through to chicken schnitzel, grilled chicken, roast chicken, chicken teriyaki, tuna and slow-cooked beef. For the hungriest customers there is a full schnitzel roll.

Banh mi in tiger rolls

The banh mi menu is a highlight. Loafers makes its banh mi in tiger rolls, with fillings including crispy pork, grilled chicken, slow-cooked beef and a sticky glazed tofu option. Banh mi are available from 9.30am, and anyone who prefers to skip the bread can choose a banh mi salad bowl. There are also plain salad bowls, plus toasties, croissants and a tiger roll with egg and bacon for breakfast.

A proper bakery counter

Loafers is a bakery too, and its counter is full of the familiar favourites. Pies come in plain, bacon, curry, mushroom and onion, alongside family meat pies, party pies, sausage rolls, dim sims, potato cakes and hash browns. The sweet side takes in custard tarts, vanilla slices, jam tarts, lemon tarts, cannoli, yo-yos, Monte Carlos, snowballs, chocolate hedgehog, apple pie, apple cake and muffins.

Bread is baked into the routine as well, with white, wholemeal, multigrain and rye loaves, French sticks, long rolls, round rolls and dinner rolls, as well as cheese rolls and cheese and bacon rolls. Coffee, chai, tea, hot chocolate and iced drinks, including Vietnamese iced coffee, round out the menu.
